Welcome to the autumn issue of Accelerating News!

This summer was marked by the breakthroughs made at Fermilab. Located in America’s premier national laboratory for particle physics research, the Muon g-2 experiment recently released measurement of anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. Ian Bailey, an accelerator scientist who contributed to the experiment, tells us more about these results and what they mean to our community.

Future research will not happen if we do not ensure that infrastructures meet global sustainability requirements. In a bold study, the CLIC collaboration aims to assess the full life cycle of future linear colliders and to quantify directly the ecological footprint of these facilities.

Sustainability also applies to accelerators applications. Another bold application is the separation of textile waste, which was brought forward by the winning team of the « accelerators for the environment » student challenge supported by I.FAST.

We are also happy to announce:

  • New dates for the CERN Accelerator School.
  • New dates for the Joint Universities Accelerator School 2024.

The editors invite to browse the new issue and learn more about all the last developments in the particle accelerator community.
